Wassup Chroniclers? How was your weekend? Ours, we spent traveling. We left Catawissa and our friends at Rohrbach farms, which seems too soon. The HB and I would love to hang at the farm for an extra day or so, just to relax and enjoy rural PA. We enjoy using the back roads to drive through and enjoy small town USA.

McCroc really enjoys driving through small towns too, just ask him. Truthfully all he wants to do is shop at Costco, Walmart and admire his Croc catalogs.

After we left Catawissa, we headed toward College Park, MD. We kinda felt like we needed to level up our batteries, so the HB decided that we were gonna pull away from the convoy and hit up the Camping World in Harrisburg, PA. That turned out to be waaaaay more exciting than it was supposed to be.

We get off the highway, with Dr. Francois & Samantha Stevens and Cmdr. & Mrs. McCroc, following stupid Google. Three huge RVs, towing cars driving down and around some tiny little streets and through several neighborhoods emptying us out onto a highway, where we were supposed to turn left across four lanes of speeding traffic, thank you very much. We continued ½ mile down the road to Camping World, only to find that there was no way that an average-sized RV like ours could fit in the parking lot, because they were resurfacing it. Ugh.

The young Camping World employee who was stationed at a gate so small, I wasn’t sure that the car wasn’t too wide to fit through, underneath an EZ-Up looked up at me apologetically, “I’m so sorry we are closed to your sized RVs today. Just go up the road and turn right at the little white church, that’ll take you back to the highway.”

Arrived at Cherry Hill, and Samantha Stevens, ever the foodie, could not wait to hit Silver Springs. “You want to go eat at a restaurant downtown?” She asked, nodding her head, attempting her sorcery. She had probably forgotten that we hadn’t eaten, so it wasn’t her witchcraft that got us moving toward the city center, it was the rumbling in our tummies.

The next day, the fellas journeyed to Home Depot. The Doctor had an idea on concocting a hillbilly smoke stack with which to redirect our generator exhaust while dry camping. Just to see his mind work, it’s pretty amazing. We walked up and down the aisles, Dr. Francois talking to himself, out loud mind you, calculating distances, circumferences, lengths and algorithmic equations, like our very own Rain Man. It made sense to him, but not to the five of us who followed him dutifully, pulling items off shelves as he pointed to them and putting them into the shopping cart, quizzically.

Once back at the RVs, we watched as our resident savant strung together a dryer vent hose, some plumbing fixtures and straps into his masterpiece. Voila! And there it was, a functional, albeit unattractive device that looked very comfortable attached to a home in a south Kentucky holler.

Now to recreate the prototype 5 more times and we’re in business.

Dinnertime! A drive into the suburbs and we get the pleasure of meeting Yoko Uno’s aunt & cousin. They warmly welcomed all thirteen of us into their home. The best part was all the stories and laughter. Yoko and her cousin grew up as close as sibs. And Auntie is a riot! Samantha Stevens was on a roll. She was hanging onto every word and she kept fishing for more. In this light, she shows more of a resemblance to nosey neighbor, Gladys Kravitz than Samantha Stevens. We learned of boyfriends, Stedmans and hullabaloos at family events. What an evening.

Well, today we tour the White House. This should be interesting. Samantha Stevens is already practicing her hypnosis, nodding away, “You wanna take us into the Oval, doncha?”

Drink ‘em if you got ‘em!
