Home …and I Don’t Think I’m Ready for it to be Over

Whaddup my peeps? Are ya chillin' with your cup?
So, I was just thinking. Ever since we got home last week, the HB & I are still kinda living ½ in the RV and ½ in the house. I wonder what that's about? Many of you might say it’s because we have no kitchen. I wonder if it's that I really am not ready to end our vacation? We're in and out of the RV at least four or five times a day for something or another. This morning it was socks. Okay, I'll admit this. It's me. I'm not ready to give it up. Maybe if I don't fully unload the RV, she'll be more likely to finish our trip. If the HB were to say to me, "Hey, let's go — …" She wouldn't even need to finish the sentence, I'd be waiting for her in the driver's seat of my RV. Notice how it has changed from ours to my RV. Yep. I have assumed sole proprietorship. But she can ride in it. I think that's pretty magnanimous of me. Don't you?

Over the past week, just about everyone the HB & I have come across has asked us about the trip. Not because they haven't read about it …somewhere. They just seem to want 1st hand info on what happened? …what was the best part? …how did we put that crew together?
Since everyone seems to want to hear the stories 1st hand, there is probably no need to reiterate what has already been written, and every member of the crew had their own favorite stop for personal reasons. So let's talk about the crew.
One: the HB was there. She was a much needed member of the crew. Why? Well, quite obviously because I needed coffee. Duh. Kind of a no brainer. I would think, anyway.
Then there is, of course, McCroc. Gotta have a right hand. He's my right hand, regardless of his poor choice in footwear. Look, there are times when one has to make compromises, and since Steve Katz threw up his hands and gave up on McCroc after graduation, it has been my responsibility for the past 38 years to guide him. Footwear aside, he's really not all that bad.
Our Science Officer, Dr. Francois joined the crew after last year's tour. The Doc and I worked together years ago at Runway Oh-Three. McCroc and I were very familiar with him, we just didn't realize that the Doc was an RVer like us. This is where the Doc's wife comes into play. Samantha read about McCroc and I having a blast last year. She took one look at Stephanie and they both began nodding their heads. "We gotta do that," she told the Doc.
So, the Professor and Yoko Uno? We met the Professor and Yoko in Bakersfield. The Professor, from the beginning, was all in. Yoko, on the other hand, was trying to break up the band from the start. Let me see if I got the quote right, "Nothing good came out of our trip to Bakersfield." Is that how it went Yoko?
The HB & I met Big Bro & Big Sis on a trip to Oregon. We were talking with them and bragging about the big trip and Big Sis got excited. “That’s a bucket list trip!” She was right. She made the decision at the table that Big Bro was gonna be driving her on her bucket list trip. Big Bro, being an experienced husband, made no disagreement at that point, nor at any other point during that conversation. I’m sure he went along with her when they got home too, if he knows what is good for him.
And then there is New Guy. New Guy wants to claim that he’s the sole reason that McCroc got an RV in the 1st place. New Guy, the Doc, McCroc and I all worked at the Runway at one time or another and share that kinship. New Guy and his wife, Dee-Nice have had an RV for a long time, but he just likes to admire it, as it sits in his driveway. He invites people over, points at his motorhome proudly and says, “Why, of course, we have an RV. Isn't It shiny?” And my reply to him is, “Uh, yeah! Because you don’t go anywhere, New Guy!” The honest truth is, the Doc, McCroc & I got together and basically shamed New Guy into taking two weeks off to spend with his buddies. New Guy retired, like the rest of us, but not really. He has a half dozen more jobs. He spent most of his 2-week vacation, checking his three beepers and both cell phones for leads on gigs.
And that’s our crew. Love them or leave them.
It was an awesome trip!
Drink ‘em if you got ‘em!
One band, one sound …isn’t that right, Yoko?
